Summer....YEA!....Uh....when does school start?!?!

Yesterday was the boys' last day of school! So exciting, right? For a mom, it's bitter sweet isn't it. The fun begins, but it brings with it fights, back talk and time outs. Lots of time outs!
Starting today I can tell you what we will be doing everyday for the rest of summer, thanks to living the life of a football coach's schedule! Every vacation is booked, every camp is signed up for and the days there is nothing...I will be enjoying a margarita by the pool at the club. Usually I would talk about how spoiled rotten the boys are...which they are...but today it seems...so are Clint and I. I am super excited about Disney World, Destin, FL, and the lake over the 4th! All fun for the whole family! Let the summer begin!
As school came to a close yesterday a few funny things happened. Baylor has an official crush first of all, and brace yourself....had his first kiss! Well, sort of. Peyton kissed him on this hand and he is just giddy about it! I don't remember this beginning so early for me, but I keep reminding myself...like father like son! LOL!
We also had to go buy "Sillybands" yesterday, which is my 1980's verson of freindship bracelets. All the kids have them at school and trade them and such. The boys are crazy over them. I feel it is the first trendy thing Baylor has gotten into, and just "Had to have!"
In the car, I had to giggle because he is growing up so fast! First grade next year, and seems so "big" compared to a year ago. It got me a little choked up!
Banks also finished school, but didn't really care. He is still just along for the ride. Except that he has been saying the funniest things. We were driving by a cemetary and the looked out and said, "Mom, that's were you go and die."
He is also very into the saying, "It's just you and me, mom!" It's the cutest thing ever!
I am off for more fishing and sprinkler fun! Gotta love summer!
School starts in just 8 weeks!

Going...Going...Gone!

Baylor had a t-ball game tonight. He has had several now and we are getting into the "swing" of things...so I thought.
First of all, we were late because "mom" thought the game was at 6:15 and it was actually at 5:15. When we pull up Baylor arrives just in time to put on his helmet and grab a bat, as he is up next. He steps up to home plate and smacks the ball right out to center field...I haven't even sat down yet. I watch him round 1st, I set my purse down. As he rounds 2nd I am taking a breath, saying, "Whew, we made it!" As he rounds 3rd, I start laughing and thinking..."we should be late more often!" As he crosses home plate, I think..."darn it, I forget my camera! Ugh!"
Baylor is grinning from ear to ear, trying not to look at me in the stands and seem cool to his players. Again I think, "What mom forgets her camera when your kid hits a home run??!!"
I sighed again after the game when Baylor was awarded the "Game Ball" and I still didn't have my camera!!! He was so proud and as we walked in the house, he grabbed his ball and darted upstairs to place it on his headboard in the spotlight!
Tonight I am a proud mama!

2010 Kentucky Derby Experience!

A group of us piled in a limo and headed to the Derby! It was so much fun, bidding, drinking julips and taking in the races! The rain was a bummer, but luckily it cleared up for the actual "Derby" race and we actually saw the sun. We were all winners for the day, even if it wasn't in monetary value...the day was great with friends! Here are a few of the fun photos!

Sprinkler Fun!

Yesterday the boys had a freind over to play and as I was watering our thirsty yard...they asked to run through the sprinkler. Being the fun mom I am...I said, "Just once." As you can see they listened well! I figured...these are the moments that one day I will miss as a mom right?!? They had so much fun running, playing and laughing! Some things never change...turn on a sprinkler and kid is going to get wet!

Sprinkler Fun!

It's starting!

Clint has been on the road all this week, and usually the boys seem to be a handful the first week he is gone. So I was prepared for the worst! Something unusual happened...Baylor turned into this sweet, well-manored, polite little boy, making me wonder where on earth my son has gone! He has been saying his please and thank you's and being nice to Banks. He has been happy everyday after school and telling me all about his days events. I have loved every minute! Today he tells me on the way to school, I think you should drop me off at the front doors instead of walking me in. OMG!!!! Do you know what this means??!?!!? I can take Baylor to school some mornings in my pjs!!!!! LOL!
Seriously....my little boy is growing up!
And then it happened! After school he starts telling me about his day, after giving me all my mother's day gifts he made at school. So sweet! He starts talking about how he, Patrick and Dakota are the "coolest" boys in the class. At recess everyone wants to play with them, whether it's baseball or chasing other kids around. Let me clarify...chasing girls around!!!! Yes, it's started! He explains that Ava, Peyton and another girl are the cutest girls in the class and so we chase them around. So, I guess all I can say is this....my son is his father's son!

Thankful!

Today I have been counting my blessings! As I drove Jacque, Sean and Brie to the Nashville airport Sunday morning after the big Derby weekend, it was raining so hard I could barely see a few car links in front of me. It had rained for a few days, but the thought never crossed my mind that it would flood. I mean does flooding ever really cross your mind...it rains all the time. But what I saw on Sunday was unreal....highways with water raging across, exits closed with water running under the overpass like it was a river not a road underneath and cars in water up to the top of the windows. Things you only see on the news, until now. Returning from the airport was a maze as I don't know where I am going without following the direct route and having to detour around flooded highways. I drive through the parking lot of the Opry Mills Mall and the famous Opry Land where the water keeps rising around us. I called Clint telling him I might go sit the storm out in the mall....
Today I hear that the mall had water throughout and the Opry Hotel had water up to the first balcony levels. So as I look back at myself sitting in the line of traffic waiting about 30 minutes to get through the detour I think, "Thank goodness I didn't go into that mall!" Someone above was looking out for me!
I have seen homes here in Bowling Green sitting in 4-5 feet of water, a newly constructed church in even deeper water and I think of how truly lucky the "Bowen Crew" is today! Our little pond rose into our back yard enough to make the boys think it was a "lake" and they kept saying how they hoped it stayed that way! They ran through the water, fished in it and chased the turtles around on the banks. All the while, none of us knowing the devistation taking place a few miles away.
Today I am counting my blessings! We are safe, heatlhy and happy. I am keeping flood victoms in my thoughts!
